We love sharing what we’ve learned, showing visitors our farm. Sadly, we don’t have much spare time for hosting! Our farm is only open to the public on select open house dates and for scheduled group tours, classes or private tastings.
We are a family-based, family-run business without extra staffing so times for visitors are limited. Please plan ahead and reserve a group tour/class/tasting or visit during our open house dates. Please keep in mind, weekends are workdays for us (Mill City Farmers Market in Minneapolis and St. Paul Farmers Market, in addition to other events). We are happy to fit in tours whenever possible but times & dates are limited – spots fill quickly!
We live where we work! This makes for an ideal commute but it can be challenging to find family time. Please help us maintain this priority by scheduling your visit on an open house date or reserving a group tour time.

We are located approximately 7 miles southeast of Northfield, Minnesota, about an hour south of Minneapolis. Our farm is across from the Nerstrand Big Woods State Park.

School groups and others enjoy a guided 1 ½ hour tour of the farm, including the milking parlor and artisan cheesemaking facilities. Tours are tailored to the ages and interests of the group and finish with a lively and educational cheese sampling. This tour is ideal for groups up to 30. Please call for pricing details. Available tour dates fill quickly!
Bring your group to Shepherd’s Way Farms for a private tour of our artisan cheesemaking facilities, dairy sheep milking parlor housed in our classic 1940s barn. Enjoy a leisurely guided tasting with our cheesemaker, learning the inside story about our award-winning cheeses and our custom-made sausages. Limited dates/times available so plan now! $250 - up to 10 people (must reserve as a group). For larger groups please contact us for pricing and availability.
Several times a year (usually winter & early spring), Jodi hosts an Inside Look at Artisan Cheesemaking class. This afternoon-long class covers some cheese making basics and techniques and the day wraps up with a guided cheese tasting. Spend time in the cheesemake rooms, learning about setting cheese with rennet, cutting curd, and about home and farmstead cheesemaking equipment. Includes a demonstration make of ricotta cheese! (Adults only, please)
