Shepherd's Way Farms Pigs
Olga, one of Elia's two Large Black gilts (female pigs) had three cute little piglets. The first piglets born at Shepherd's Way and after we had given up on seeing any this season. Suddenly, all of the weariness of the day was lifted and all that seemed so urgent became less so. Excited, we laughed at the cute little guys, appreciated the good nature of their mother and worried about how such tiny little beings can survive a mother that is so huge. There were pigs in a blanket jokes as they all laid down together lined up just as we imagined it would be. Two days later, they are doing great and Olga seems to have taken to motherhood just fine. Her sister Esme, who has never been apart from Olga, seems to have suffered her separation anxiety well. Esme and the boar, Boris (of course) do seem curious, as they look through the window, at all the attention Olga is getting. Congratulations, Elia!
